74 Animals On Our Farm

Our diverse family includes over 20 horses, dozens of cows, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, cats, dogs, geese, and fowl.
At Sunnyside Farms Animal Sanctuary, we are dedicated to providing a loving and safe environment for farm animals that can no longer be cared for by their owners. Our mission is to allow these animals to live out their remaining years naturally, surrounded by others of their kind.

About Our Animals

The sanctuary operates at the scale of a fully functional farm with the exception that no animals are sent to the butcher or sold. As a fully functioning farm, we require heavy equipment to perform daily farm chores and produce hay as feed for the animals.

Unlike conventional stables, our horses live in groups, determining their own hierarchy—an experience mirroring their natural state. At our farm, we embrace a cradle-to-grave philosophy; taking a unique approach to life's journey and offering a dignified resting place within our dedicated animal cemetery.

Animals at our farm are taken care of and given proper nutrition and attention to wellbeing. Meticulous attention is taken by John, Lucinda, our trusted team of vets, and part-time trainers, ensuring comprehensive care, especially for our 20 horses who receive adequate training and exercise to keep both their minds and bodies sharp.

We may take care of the animals, but in reality, the animals really care for us, enriching our lives in profound ways, and fostering a unique bond of care and companionship.

What You Need To Know

  • Farm visits are by appointment only. Please be sure to email Lucinda to arrange your visit. We will have limited hours available on Sunday afternoons.

    Please note: visitors are limited to five as that is all that fits in the gator for a safe tour of the farm.

  • We appreciate your enthusiasm and support of our animals, but we are not accepting volunteers at this time.

  • We are lucky to house over 70 animals on our farm!

    The following farm animals;

    Ducks (different breeds), Chickens )again different breeds) including roosters, Guinea hens, Pot belly pigs, Goats, Cows, Horses , Mini ponies, Farm cats, Rabbits, Dogs

  • Sunnyside Farms Animal Sanctuary is a register Canadian Charitable Organization so we are pleased to provide a charitable donation receipt for any financial aid the Sanctuary receives.
